How’s Your Lava Level?

What is Peace?  What is Peace like?  Do you have Peace?  How do you get Peace?  Could you do with a little Peace today?  The Oxford dictionary defines “Peace” as:

  1. Freedom from disturbance;
  2. Tranquility; calmness; the absence of war.

The hippies in the 60s tried to have Peace and live in peace, but that movement has come and gone!  The leaders of nations have tried to sign Peace treaties, but they are often broken.  People without peace hurt other people and they kill, steal and destroy because they don’t have peace! There is:
  • Road rage
  • Petrol pump rage
  • Supermarket rage
  • Hospital rage
  • Retirement village rage
  • Classroom rage
  • Shooting rage
  • Office rage
  • Trolley rage … and the list goes on!

Rage is “the violent and uncontrollable expression of unresolved anger.”   A “tempered temper” is what is required to protect ourselves and our loved ones and the people around us from rage.  God’s Word tells us this in Proverbs 14:29:

Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly

Also, read Proverbs 15:18 today.  A “tempered temper” can only be manifest when we have peace.  We live in a fast paced self centred world where few of us really have peace.  There’s pressure on every side from lack of finances, relationships, school, family ,work, sickness and unrealistic expectations that others put on us and so on.  The shame and guilt we carry around are like little pressure cookers always trying to heat us up.  Too much pressure can cause us to become volcanoes ready to erupt!  You’ll be able to recognize these volcanoes are ready to erupt when you see smoke coming from them, you will know that the hot molten lava underneath is rising and it’s about to blow!  Can you see any volcanoes in your mirror?  How’s your LAVA LEVEL today?  Your Lava Level will be dependent upon how much Peace you have.

Peace only comes when the war is over, when the internal war is over in your heart and mind; it is then that surrender becomes your pathway to peace.  Surrendering to God and saying:

  • You win
  • I’m finished
  • I can’t do this on my own
  • I give up
  • I’ve tried my hardest and I can’t do it
  • I give you my life
  • I will stop fighting
  • I surrender

This is the only way to get the peace of God that transcends all understanding.  Thrust yourself into the arms of the only one who can save you from hell, run to God not from him, run to the man they call “The Prince Of Peace.”  Surrendering to Jesus will give you the peace you’ve been looking for and longing for.   Your lava will go cold and turn to stone which will give you a strong foundation to build your life upon!  In Jesus’ own words here is the answer,

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation.  But take heart; for I have overcome the world.  Read John 16:33.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 says, ”You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”  There is a peace that you can ask for when all hell breaks loose in your life.  Whatever is happening in your life you can choose Jesus and His peace.  Truth is you can trust God, He will never let you down and He will bring you through whatever you’re going through.

God bless you heaps,

Pastor Nigel
