Under Pressure?

In October 1981 pop singer David Bowie released a new song called “Under Pressure”.  Are you “Under Pressure” today?  Pressure is simply defined as: how much something is pushing against something else.

Do you feel the “Pressure” of something pushing against you? Every morning all of us wake up to the pressures of life.  What sort of day we have is determined by the way we handle the pressures of life. The pressures of our modern lifestyle can easily leave us feeling:

  • Sad
  • Depressed
  • Tired
  • Exhausted
  • Angry
  • Sick
  • Bitter
  • Lonely
  • Broken
  • Hopeless

These things are like  poison to our souls!  The good news is that there is an antidote to this poison. The antidote is to have faith in God.  Faith simply means to “believe and trust.”  Trust God with the pressure you are facing today, believe that God has a plan for your life and that he is working things out in his time.   We live in a world where people prefer “Pleasure” over “Pressure” because pleasure is the easy way out. Pleasure doesn’t build character, but pressure can.  Pressure is not a bad thing, it’s how we handle pressure that makes the difference.

J Hudson Taylor said this,

It doesn’t matter how great the pressure is, it’s where the pressure lies that matters.

We must not allow the pressure to lie between us and all that is good.  Yes, some days I just want out! Out of everything with less pressure…don’t you?  We all want Less Pressure from the things that are good for us to bear.  Pressure can be a positive thing if we see it that way and handle it right.

There is a man who knows how to handle pressure.  Jesus says in Mathew 11:28;

Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.

If Pressure is not going away any time soon then we need to learn how to handle it!  We must hand over the excess weight and the pressure and the stress to the one who works all this out for our good.  That sounds like an antidote to me!  God please help me to be strong and carry what I need to and hand over what I have to.  Help me God to trust you with my life and all that is in it for I ask you to broaden my shoulders that I may carry the weight I need to and that I may carry my brother when he can’t walk.  Amen.

Tomorrow will take you higher if you’ll hang in there with God another day and let God strengthen you in every way.

God bless you heaps
