Sons and Heirs

26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus [Galatians 3:26 NKJV]
Congratulations on your decision for Jesus and welcome to the family!  You’re now a part of the Kingdom of God and have a relationship with the living God!  Your family has just grown significantly and your new life starts right now [2 Corinthians 5:17].  You may be wondering, what is your next step?  You’ve made a choice, the best choice you’ll ever make. It’s time to act on it.

Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me [Luke 9:23 NKJV]

And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord [Acts 22:16 NKJV]
Repeatedly the Bible calls on us to repent and be baptised.  This is your next step for your new life in Christ.  It is your next act of faith.

14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

What we believe affects what we say and do.  As a believer in Jesus, we’re called to become more and more like Him day by day, He will help us do this by His Holy Spirit..  One of the best ways to grow is through serving because serving puts others first, serving pleases the Lord.   Jesus tells us this is the path we must take for our maturity in Him.  He came not to be served but to serve and we are called to follow His example.  When we serve, we’re acting like Jesus, it benefits the ones we serve of course but the benefits to us are eternal.  It will teach us patience which is very important for our character.  It makes our faith real! We can also guide you through a gift analysis to assist you identifying where you might serve.

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart [Hebrews 4:12 NKJV].

The Bible is the Word of God!  It is the main way He speaks to us and teaches us about Himself and His ways.  You’ve entered into an amazing and loving relationship with Jesus.  You need to get to know Him.  His Word is the best way, it guides us, protects us, helps us and comforts us in our difficulties.  Learn to love it, feed from it.  The Word of God changes our thinking by renewing our minds.  The Word helps us have the mind of Christ.

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you [1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV]

Simply speaking prayer is conversation with the Lord.  Like any relationship, communication and time is vital!  We must learn to give Jesus our attention.  Note too that conversation is two way.  Through spending time alone with Jesus, we get to know Him, we get to speak to Him and we can learn to hear what He will say to us.  It’s really incredible if you think about it.  This discipline is a key to your faith, a primary weapon against lies and the enemy.  As with anything, we will all improve and change over time but it’s paramount to make this a habit.  Speak to Him regularly about anything and everything. As your intimacy with Him grows so you will find strength and joy. You’ll discover His will for your life and will be able to rejoice always.  Please join us in prayer each Sunday before the service at 9am on the deck.
40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone who is perfectly trained will be like his teacher [Luke 6:40 NKJV].
To be a disciple of Christ is to follow Jesus.  It is the process of knowing Him and not just knowing about Him .  The great commandment is to love God with all our heart, mind and soul and to love others as ourselves.  This leads to the great commission of making disciples of all the nations.  We need to invest in our spiritual growth, our discipleship.  The Lord is big on our relationship with Him and with others, we’re not meant to do this alone.  Get connected today, join your brothers and sisters in Christ on the journey of growth in the Lord.  One of the best ways to do this is to join a LifeGroup (small group gathering that meets during the week).
Contact us to connect you into a new Christians course and LifeGroup to guide you on your journey.  Be encouraged by others who are further along in their walk with Christ.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another [John 13:34-35 NKJV].
