The Love of God Revealed

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved [John 3:16-17 NKJV]
That short, well known Scripture tells us a great deal about our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus.  Consider for just a moment what you know.  The world we live in is both amazing, beautiful, full of potential and yet so full of strife, suffering and evil.  Could you truthfully say the same things about your very own life?  Have you always done the right thing?  The facts speak for themselves.  Our world and our lives are in trouble.  God knows this very well, He does care about you, He loves you more than you can imagine and He has provided the answer.  He is not mad at you and does not condemn you, He desires to know you, to love you and have you in His family forever – even after you die!  He proves it with what you read above.  He sent His only Son to take our punishment for us, that is an amazing love.
It all started when Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden.  The consequences of their disobedience and rejection of God’s authority and position are what we are still seeing in the world today.  It’s all the result of sin which has entered the world.  One of the most devastating consequences is of course physical death.  You can read about it in the very beginning of the Bible in the book of Genesis.  No matter how good people claim to be or try to be, we can never meet God’s standards on our own.  There are many beliefs and other religions that try to do this.  Our heavenly Father is holy, pure, sinless and full of glory.  Our sin, which we are now all born into, separates us from His presence.

The Truth Shall Make You Free

31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”

34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed [John 8:31-36 NKJV].

The Lord God is a spirit, He is the truth.  Our sin separates us from seeing Him directly, for now. Our world is full of lies, deceit and deception which all come from the enemy.  The main cause of all the world’s problems is lies.  People believe them, people are taught them, people hold onto them.  People even choose to not seek truth or seek the Lord.  That is another attribute of His love, the Lord God allows us to choose.  He does reveal Himself in the world if you would but sincerely search for Him.  Jesus is the ultimate revelation of who God truly is, His love, His character and His desire for all of us.

The Father Revealed

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves [John 14:7-11 NKJV].
The Lord God provided the Law we can read in the Old Testament to reveal His standards.  Importantly it  shows us how we sin against Him.  The Old Testament also testifies to the coming of Jesus as the answer for the world.  As no one is able to fully keep the Law, no one can be saved and reconciled to Him through it.  Once we miss one thing, we’ve failed.  This may seem harsh, but it reveals the holiness and purity and love of God.  Sin in any way shape or form is not okay in His presence. This brings us to the solution the Lord God has provided, His Son Jesus.  Jesus, who is God.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence [Colossians 1:15-18 NKJV].

He is the reason you and I even exist because everything was made by Him and is kept by Him.  He became a man and walked amongst us.  He did this to reveal God’s love and plan for humanity.  You were born to be loved by our heavenly Father and have an eternal relationship with Him.  In His timing, this fallen world will cease and there will be a new glorious creation in which we can be with Him.  It’s simply your choice.
God is love and His love is not just words or nice feelings, it’s a love that acts.  The Lord God does not treat us as we deserve, He desires to be in a loving relationship with us forever.  Jesus took the punishment for all of our sins.  He was the only one qualified to do so because He was and is sinless.  He suffered, He died but He rose from the dead, victorious over the consequences for our sin.  Yes, the world still goes on in its sinful ways for now but the way out has been provided.  He has freed those who would choose Him from eternal separation from our heavenly Father.  That is good news, that is the Gospel of Jesus.  He is a God of reconciliation, calling all people to turn to Him.  Here’s the amazing thing, the offer is available to every one who believes, not only those who think they’re good enough.  Simply admit you need Him, accept what He’s done for you and allow Him to transform your life and world forever, starting now. Here’s the truth, there is no other way to be reconciled to the Father.

For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation [Romans 5:6-11 NKJV].

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

14 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me [John 14:1-6 NKJV].
